Support Park Family: Hunter's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,

My name is Yusuke, and I’ve had the privilege of knowing Kenny Park for over 25 years — since high school. From the very beginning, he’s been more than a friend — he’s been a brother. If you know Kenny, you know he’s the kind of person who radiates kindness, charm, and a genuine love for life. He’s the guy who will always show up for you — no questions asked.

Over the years, we’ve shared countless ups and downs, and through it all, Kenny’s loyalty and heart have remained constant. But what makes him truly special is his ability to make everyone feel like family. It’s a rare gift, and one I’ve seen him share time and again.

And then there’s Jean, Kenny’s incredible wife. Jean is Kenny’s light, his rock, his motivator — the one who lifted him up when he needed it most. When Kenny moved to Miami, Florida and was going through a tough time, it was Jean who saw the strength in him, who stood by him, and who helped him rediscover himself. She has been by his side through medical challenges, emotional lows, and life’s toughest moments. That’s not just love — that’s devotion, that’s soul mate-level connection. I’ve always admired and appreciated Jean not only for the love she gives Kenny, but for the strength, stability, and grace she brings to their entire family.

Together, Kenny and Jean have built a beautiful life. They are the proud parents of two amazing children — Olivia (7) and Hunter (4) — the very center of their world.

On May 13th, I called Kenny with a few extra Mets tickets, thinking he might want to take Hunter to his first game. What I didn’t expect was the devastating phone call that followed — a moment that would break my heart and change their lives forever.

Just days before, the Park family had enjoyed a normal afternoon at the park. But the very next morning, Hunter woke up in pain, telling his parents his legs hurt. Then, terrifyingly, he could no longer walk. Rushed to the emergency room, Hunter underwent a series of tests. After several agonizing days with no answers, doctors discovered trauma to his T1 and T2 spinal vertebrae.

There was no known accident. No clear diagnosis. Just a sudden, heartbreaking reality. Hunter was rushed into emergency spinal surgery, and now faces a long and uncertain road to recovery.

Since then, Hunter has been transferred from Mount Sinai Children’s Hospital to Blythedale Children’s Hospital, where he is receiving specialized care and intensive rehabilitation. Throughout this journey, Kenny and Jean have stayed by Hunter’s side, doing everything they can to support him and Olivia through this traumatic and uncertain time.

But as you can imagine, the emotional and financial burden of this situation is enormous — and growing every day.

That’s why I’m asking, from the bottom of my heart, for your support.

Your donation will help the Park family with:

Ongoing medical and therapy expenses

Special rehabilitation and mobility equipment

Travel and lodging while Hunter is hospitalized

Family support during this critical recovery period

While Hunter is covered under insurance, the full extent of what will be reimbursed is still unknown. Our goal is to help ease the financial burden of what insurance may not cover — including therapy, rehabilitation, travel, and other out-of-pocket costs. We’ve set an initial goal of $50,000, and we may adjust this as the family receives more information from insurance and medical providers.

Hunter is a sweet, smart, and incredibly strong little boy. With time, love, prayer, and the right care, we believe he will walk again. But the Parks cannot do this alone.

If you are able, please donate. If you can’t give right now, we kindly ask that you share this campaign with your community. Every act of kindness, every word of encouragement, and every prayer makes a difference.

Thank you so much for standing with Hunter and the Park family during this incredibly difficult time.

With love, gratitude, and hope,
Yusuke
