Support Pariah Staff's Unpaid Wages
Hello! My name is JR and I was the Event Coordinator and a bartender at Pariah Brewing Co in the community of Hampden in Baltimore, Md. I am starting a GoFundMe for the staff to recoup the lost wages that the owners have not paid us.
On April 11, 2024, at 630p, an assistant sheriff came into Pariah to inform us that the sheriff's dept would be locking the doors the next day at 1p. As a result, we had less than 24 hours' notice that we would be out of a job.
While the beer was the best and the space was cool, it was the staff that made Pariah special. We stuck in there with the owners because we believed in them. We believed in Pariah. Unfortunately, our trust was taken advantage of and that has now put our livelihoods in jeopardy.
The Friday (4/12) Pariah closed was a "payday". Our paychecks for the period 3/11-3/24 were not available. On several occasions the staff has inquired where and when the money will be available. We’ve received responses such as "Well, not paying rent so we can pay you guys!", "We are waiting on a refund from suppliers", "We are waiting on a check from Quail".
Then we were informed of the $27k that Otherside owes them.
It is a shame that we have to turn to the community for help because the owners and distributors can't/won't take care of their obligations.
On behalf of Wes, Kamil, Sarah, Chad, and myself thank you to the community not only for your support now but also for the past 2 years. You made Pariah an amazing experience for us!
Total Owed:
3/11-4/11
Chad $1486.24
JR $4256.50
Kamil $2323.94
Sarah $713.38
Wes $3199.37
To the Staff: We created a space that was accepting, fun, and safe. We were a great team! Aside from the great beer, the only good thing the owners did was to be selective in the creation of the team. You all are some of the most amazing and beautiful human beings I have ever worked with. I am proud to say I was a part of that team. We truly were a family. Even the guests became like family. Despite the crap behind the scenes, it was the guests that kept us coming to work. Together (staff & guests) we created something special in the community.
