For anyone who doesn’t know my parents, their dream was to find a house on the river where they could retire. A few years ago, they took their life savings and made it happen. Well, as many others have experienced, Hurricane Helene had other plans. Their house took on almost 4 feet of water, destroying anything and everything at that height. The pure devastation and destruction is something I still haven’t quite coped with. Like many others, they were without flood insurance. My parents have worked tirelessly their whole lives, and to see their world ripped apart is truly devastating. They are very proud people and would never do this, so I will do it for them. The financial burden this will cost is still unknown, but I do know they will need some help. They have literally lost everything. Things you don’t even realize are gone: furniture, bedding, every electronic and appliance, and many, many irreplaceable family heirlooms. Anything you can do would help tremendously, and I will forever be in your debt. Truly, thank you.
