I'm raising this money for my parents. It's not something they would personally ask for as they are usually on the sharing end of blessings.

September 4th started as a normal day, but with a forecast of rain. My dad headed out to the gym per his usual schedule, noting that he should be back to mow the lawn before it rains. On his way home, it was raining pretty hard in his area, and that's when the trouble started. By the time my dad got home, he noticed flooding had started, and it only got worse from there.

The drainage ditch near their house was blocked, causing water to begin to pour into the yards of the nearby housing. 18 inches of flood water and debris began pouring into the house through the backyard, beginning to destroy everything. They were forced to open their front door and side gates to try to get the water to drain to the front. Unfortunately, destruction beyond comprehension occurred. In a flash, over 30 years of hard work and memories were destroyed, rendering their house uninhabitable.

The house is being emptied and demolition has begun. There is no longer carpet in the house, and many things have already been thrown away. When there is a flood, there is a rush to get everything out as quickly as possible before mold and bacteria set in.

At the moment, they are relying on the generosity of staying with friends, but they will need a longer home base to stay at as destruction and renovation begin to take place. As we all know, the cost begins to rapidly climb regardless of whether you may or may not reimbursed or not for the damages. Those details are still up in the air.
