Support Paramedic and Single Mom’s Battle Against Cancer
Donation protected
When someone calls 911 with a medical emergency, the paramedics who respond are willing to meet you on your worst days and see you through your toughest times. But what happens when that paramedic is the one who needs help?
Aliska Shotwell is a 36 year old paramedic of 12 years for Cumberland County EMS. She is a single mother of 3 handsome boys ages 13, 6, and 22 months. She is also now battling a very rare and extremely aggressive breast cancer called HR+/HER2+ breast cancer, also known as triple positive breast cancer. Aliska recently received this diagnosis and her medical team is moving very fast to get her treatments started to stop the cancer from growing. Part of her treatment is going to include “hard chemotherapy” for 12-18 weeks, which will cause her extreme fatigue, nausea, vomiting, hair loss, and a compromised immune system. While she is receiving treatment, Aliska will not be able to work as a paramedic due to the physical nature of the job and the exposure to sickness that she won’t be able to fight. I started this gofundme for urgent donations towards Aliska’s rent for 5 months while she is unable to work. She should not have to worry about providing shelter for herself and her 3 boys while fighting for her life.
Aliska is one of the most selfless, compassionate, positive, and caring people I have ever had the pleasure to know, and it is my greatest honor and privilege to call her one of my very best friends. I ask for your help to see her through this extremely hard time in her life the way she has walked with others through their hardest times for the past 12 years as a paramedic.
