Help My Son Compete at Karate Nationals!

Hello everyone, my name is Alejandro Rodriguez, and martial arts has shaped my life. I proudly represented Venezuela as part of the National Team from 2006 to 2014, achieving success on national, continental, and world levels. My father, Pedro Luis Rodriguez, is a pioneer of Karate in Venezuela, following the Wado Ryu teachings of Tatsuo Suzuki Sensei worldwide. He has passed his knowledge and passion for Karate down to my brothers and me, and now, to the next generation—my son, Paolo Rodriguez.

We are from Greenville, SC, and I have been teaching Karate to Paolo since he was very young, giving him a lot of flexibility to enjoy other activities as well. Two years ago, my son competed at Nationals for the first time. Though he didn’t achieve the results he had hoped for, I never pressured him to follow in our family tradition. Late last year, something changed—he rediscovered his love for Karate, dedicating himself to training and competition. Over the last eight months, he has worked tirelessly, and his efforts paid off with gold medals in his last two events.

Just weeks ago, Paolo made a bold decision—he wants to compete at Nationals this year. This tournament means the world to him, a chance to showcase his hard work and growth. The event will take place at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Texas, and we need your help to get him there!

Why We Need Your Support

Competing at Nationals comes with several expenses, and as owners of a growing Karate school, we simply can’t cover the costs on our own:

Hotel stay: $850

Flights: $1,200 (or gas expenses if we drive)

Daily food costs: $100 per day for both of us

Registration fees: $200

Coaching fees: $200
