This is Pandora. He’s a 13-year-old sassy, vocal, and affectionate Siamese. I adopted Pandora when he was 10 years old, and it was the best decision I have ever made. Anyone who knows Pandora knows how loving he is, always willing to show his belly, rub up against your leg, sit on your lap, or just sit next to you and stare at you with his cute little cross-eyes, even if it is your first time meeting him. He loves people and he loves attention. He has no issues meowing at you until you pet him or give him food. He also is my personal greeter whenever I get home.
For a cat, he is very in touch with human emotion. Whenever myself or my roommates are sad, he makes sure to give the best snuggles to cheer us up and nudges you until you have no choice but to pet his little head. He follows you around everywhere, just curious as to what you are up to. I've always said he was a dog in cat clothing.
Yesterday, February 25th, I woke up to Pandora having an incredibly hard time breathing, panting, gasping for air, and struggling to even get around without being out of breath. I took him to the animal hospital to find out that he is experiencing heart failure. Unfortunately, there is a lot of fluid building in his lungs, which is making it hard for him to breathe, and his heart can't properly function because of it. The doctors gave him diuretics, which intentionally dehydrate the body to release any buildup in fluids. The downside to this medication is that it can affect his kidneys. They suggested hospitalization for continuous care in an oxygen chamber and consistent medication, and to be seen by a cardiologist for his heart regularly. For treatments like this, it ranges from $4,000+, and I cannot afford to pay that, so he is at home still continuing to have issues with breathing.
Anyone who knows me knows that Pandora is my world. He brings happiness, spunk, and peace to my life with his big personality. Yesterday was extremely difficult for me. I cannot imagine a world without him cuddling up on my arm, following me around everywhere, sitting on my chest with his booty to my face so I would pay attention to him instead of the TV or my phone. The last three years we have experienced together have been nothing short of perfect, and even though he is older, he still has spunk in him that needs to carry on. I normally don't ask for help, but in this case, I will do anything to help my little man. Any amount that you could donate is much appreciated, and even if you cannot donate, a simple share of this is also appreciated. Help Pandora, thank you
