Sometimes a single message changes everything.

We recently received a heartbreaking call for help about a dog living in unimaginable conditions. A tourist came across a sweet dog confined inside a small wooden box. Unable to look away, she documented what she saw, kept a close watch on the dog, and reached out to us for help.

When we saw the footage, our hearts shattered.

No animal deserves to live this way. No dog deserves to be forgotten, isolated, or left without comfort, care, and love.

At Panama Paws, we often say, "If you see something, do something." When an animal is suffering, we believe action matters. Looking away was never an option.

The truth is, taking on another rescue right now wasn't part of the plan. Rescue rarely happens when the timing is perfect. We are already stretched thin, and we do not currently have the funds needed to get her to safety in the USA.

But we also know that if we don't step up for her, who will?

Our goal is not only to rescue her, but to get her on a life-saving transport alongside two other dogs who are also waiting for their chance at safety. All three dogs are scheduled to travel to the United States, but we still urgently need to raise the funds to make their transport possible.

• Documentation for airlines (health certificate, airway bill, CDC, Cargo broker fees)

• Ongoing medical care (in Panama and in the USA)
