Support Pam's Recovery from Hurricane Damage
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tanya. My Aunty Pam moved to Clearwater, Florida, 8 months ago to begin her retirement. She is a senior citizen and on a very fixed income, and has no family in her state to help.
When she bought her home, she was told that she was not in a flood zone, so she did not get flood insurance. When Hurricane Debbie came through, it flooded her home, causing extensive flood damage. She tried to put in a claim, but it was denied because she didn't have flood insurance. She was then told that FEMA had changed the perimeters of the flood zone and that she is now in a flood zone.
She was looking into getting flood insurance when Hurricane Helene hit (she did not incur any damage from Helene) and then continued to look into it, and then Milton hit, causing severe damage to her home. The damage is far more than she can afford to fix. She lost her washer and dryer, the vapor barrier under her house needs to be replaced, and the A/C ducts all need to be replaced as well. The total cost to fix everything is close to $10,000.00. She is just a mess emotionally to have just gone through 3 hurricanes with no family nearby so ANY help people can give would be so appreciated. Thank you.
