Support Pamella's fight against rare Meningioma reocurrence.

Hi friends,

In August 2024 my best friend Pam (23yrs) was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer, Metastatic Meningioma. This type of tumour typically grows in the brain, but Pam has had multiple reocurrences in both her lungs, spine, neck and posterior ribs.
Pam is fun, outgoing , caring and family and friend orientated, she will always make sure everyone around her feels welcome and happy. She is a very clever and creative girl with plenty of dreams to fulfil, so let's help her get there!

I asked her to tell you her story...

"Hi! My story begins in 2019 at 18 years old when I began losing sensation and mobility in my legs. This led to a dismissal from the hospital with a misdiagnosis of 'Guillain barre syndrome'. As more time went by I completely lost sensation in my legs and couldn't walk on my own. Re-admission to the hospital and MRI scans showed a large meningioma tumor pressing on my spinal chords and paralysing my legs. I was rushed into a dangerous 11 hour spinal surgery in an attempt to remove the tumor. I was bed bound for three weeks followed by a lot of physio to walk properly again. Unfortunately the surgeon wasn't able to remove all of it and it grew back faster and more aggressively. This eventually led to two more spinal surgeries up until 2022 where I did two months of radiotherapy. The tumor was successfully frozen in place for two years and I was able to go back to living my life.
A couple of months ago I noticed a lump behind my collar bone which was unusual so I contacted my old oncology team at the hospital. Scans led to the doctors discovering multiple meningioma tumours spread across my body including the collar/neck, both lungs, posterior ribs and the same one from years ago in my spine beginning to grow again. My doctors have contacted meningioma experts (collegues) in other countries to try to gain an understanding of what is going on but have had no luck. Unfortunately, due to this being such a rare case, doctors are unsure of the cause and do not have a clear path forward. I was also informed that eliminating the tumour on my spine will be difficult as they cannot carry out another round of radiotherapy in that same area, so they are unsure what to do in that regard and how to prevent it from further growth which is the tumor that was causing my previous paralysis in my legs. I have not been promised that I will get back to my full health, but doctors want to begin invasive and risky surgeries followed by endless months or radiotherapy to my body. I have been told these things are to 'extend my life expectancy because I am so young', but I believe I have a very long, beautiful life to live."

Once diagnosed, Pam had to leave her job working with mental health and disabilities as it was a very mentally and physically demanding job. She also had to leave the home she was living in at the time due to extenuating circumstances and had to announce herself as 'homeless' to the council. She has been placed in a temporary accomodation very far away from her family, friends, and anyone she knows. The living conditions are also very poor, but countless calls and emails asking to be moved have been futile as housing in London has become impossible.

We are asking for help to support Pam and her family through this crazy overwhelming journey! All donations will go towards funding anything she needs to aid her through this journey and also possibly moving her to a more stable and safe home. We are so grateful for any and every donation that comes our way and thankful for all of the beautiful people here on gofundme.
