Pamela is my niece, Danielle’s mother. She was recently in a devastating car accident where her airbags failed to deploy. The impact left her with extensive injuries: a fracture at the base of her skull, a cervical spine fracture, multiple fractures throughout her thoracic and lumbar spine, a broken shoulder, a broken clavicle, and broken ribs. She was life-flighted to a military trauma center for emergency treatment, where she required a chest tube for internal bleeding and underwent a major spinal fusion surgery to stabilize her back.
Pamela is now recovering from surgery, wearing a neck brace and soon a back brace, while dealing with nerve issues and the inability to walk. Her doctors are monitoring her closely, but she faces a long and difficult journey of intensive physical therapy and rehabilitation to regain her mobility and muscle control. The situation is made even more challenging because Pamela does not have health insurance, and most of our family lives in different states than where she is hospitalized. The costs of travel, time away from work, and coordinating her long-term care are significant hurdles, but we want to make sure she isn’t alone during this months-long process.
Your support will help Pamela focus on healing and getting back on her feet. Donations will go toward her rehabilitation and ongoing care, as well as travel and family logistics so we can be by her side. We are so grateful for any contribution, whether it is a donation or simply sharing this story with your community. Thank you for your kindness and for keeping Pamela in your thoughts.
