Support Pamela's Journey to a Heart Transplant

Hello, my name is Pamela Lockwood. In April 2021, I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and advanced CHF. Since then, we have tried numerous combinations of drugs with very little success. I also have a pacemaker/defibrillator implanted as well as eight stents.
At this point, we have exhausted all conventional means of treating my heart failure. In January 2024, I went to Gainesville to be evaluated for a heart transplant at the University of Florida. Unfortunately, I was turned down.
In June 2024, I started working with the transplant team at the Mayo Clinic here in Jacksonville. They have done extensive testing and have cleared me as a candidate for a heart transplant.
However, I am too sick to wait at home, so I'll be admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, 20 May until a heart becomes available. This could take weeks or even months.
Insurance will cover the cost of the transplant, but there are so many more expenses that are not covered. My daughter Savannah will be my primary caregiver, and I will have to move in with her once I'm released from the hospital because I will need somebody with me 24 hours a day for the first few months. Incidental expenses, lost wages, medical equipment that I'll need after my release from the hospital, and trips back and forth every week for testing after the transplant—all of these things add up very, very quickly.
Anything you could do to help would be greatly appreciated. I just want to be healthy again and live out the rest of my life watching my grandchildren grow up.
