Support Pamela Thomas in Her Battle Against Cancer

This fundraiser event has been established for Pamela Thomas, beloved friend and coworker to many of us here at Amazon building LEX1, here in Lexington, KY. Since 2007, Pam has been here with us, much of that time as a PA, giving us her all with her hard work, dependability, caring attitude, and kind heart. To many of us, she IS the glue that holds our department together, that keeps us going when all else fails; someone who would do anything for you, no matter what the inconvenience to her own person.
What most of us do not know, however, is that as much as she gives during work hours, she gives so much more outside of work. As a 51-year-old wife, mother of three, and grandmother of three, she is the primary caregiver in her home. Her husband, Reed Thomas, once an Integrity manager and then security personnel for Amazon, can no longer work after suffering amputation of his leg from diabetes. This is in addition to a strict regimen of dialysis for both kidney and heart failure.
Plagued by a nonstop series of unfortunate events over the last couple of years, Pamela has seen not only her own husband's health decline, but also that of her youngest daughter, all while suffering the loss of her grandson on August 7, 2024, and a near miss for her own son around the same time, due to an auto accident. Under immense stress constantly, Pam has continued to persevere both at home and work, juggling an almost impossible load on her shoulders and has managed to do so without losing an ounce of her kind sense of humanity towards others, a feat that many of us could not boast.
But the past two weeks have been trying. After seeing her husband Reed in the ICU for several days, he was finally released into the care of Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Center. What should have been a time of pure relief for her turned into another personal tragedy as on 2/18, Pamela received the news from her own doctor that she has been diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, a form of breast cancer, and that the cancer has spread to her lymphatic system. She is currently waiting to revisit the doctor on 2/27 to check if it has spread anywhere else.
Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) constitutes the most common form of breast cancer and has the potential to be quite aggressive, with the prognosis varying greatly, dependent on the grade, stage, and subtype. At this time, these details are unknown, but will be updated on this page as they become known. What is known, however, is that regardless of the prognosis, Pamela intends to fight, in any way possible. We know that treatment will be draining on her and her family. It will test them physically, financially, and spiritually.
At a time when neither Pam nor Reed can work, they are being faced with an impending doomsday of a financial crisis, something that can, just on its own, be a crushing source of stress. During a time when Pam needs all of her strength, both in body and spirit, to fight this cancer, she should not have to worry about how to survive financially as well. Extra stress can sometimes be what makes or breaks the success of a cancer treatment. All of us who know her want nothing more than to see Pam overcome and beat this, returning to her family, friends, and coworkers stronger than ever.
The greatest help that we can be to her in this dire time of need is to make sure that she doesn't have to carry the extra stress of financial loss. After giving so much of herself to everyone around her, we need to help her now; we need to help carry some of the weight that she has been carrying on her shoulders, alone, for too long. We humbly ask on her behalf, please donate today. Any amount given will help ease their burden, and all proceeds will go directly to aid her and her family in medical expenses, food, shelter, and utility bills here in Lexington. We sincerely thank you for taking the time to view and help out!
