  • Our story can change in an instant and affect everyone around you. My life recently took a path I never foresaw happening. In April of this year, I underwent 3 surgeries that resulted in a right above-knee amputation due to a septic infection in my bones. I thank God for sparing my life every day. I was in the hospital and rehab for over a month, causing a financial hardship for my family.
  • Prior to coming home, my family had to install a ramp and purchase other equipment, including a wheelchair, to allow me to safely move around the house as independently as possible. Not to mention an future adjustments that will need to be made to our vehicles for me to be able to drive again in the future. My family has truly been my support system, and without their love, I wouldn't have come as far as I have. Unfortunately, the world doesn't stop turning when tragedies happen. Monthly bills keep occurring along with unexpected events that come up. My husband was out of work for 2 weeks recovering from gallbladder surgery, and our daughter Kaylee went to the hospital after breaking up a dog fight. They are both recovered and healed. You just never know what hiccups life throws at you. Financially, we are sinking with monthly expenses. We do have insurance, but it doesn't cover the co-pays to all the doctors or our out-of-pocket deductibles, which have reached our family maximums.
  • I am in the process of obtaining a prosthetic so I can get back to the life I used to have. Insurance is quite a hassle trying to obtain the correct devices the doctor feels will be most beneficial for the best outcome along my journey to walk again. Once I receive my prosthetic, I will be going to intense physical therapy sessions a couple of times a week to achieve walking again. This process can take up to a year until I feel completely comfortable on my own. This means money for gas for the dozens of appointments to physical therapy, doctors, and my prosthetist that I will be going to. I am trying to get used to my normal as much as I can. I have been researching everything I can on the best amputee products I will need pertaining to my prosthetic. As you can imagine, not all the top products are covered by insurance, or you need to appeal many times over. I am doing my best to stay optimistic and maintain a positive outlook on my journey to recovery.
  • I ask now that if any of our family or friends are able to contribute through monetary means towards my journey back, we would greatly appreciate it. If you aren't able to donate, please share my story and keep us in your continued prayers. God bless you all!
