To everyone who may not yet have heard the news, my father James Dugan passed away last night after a long fight with diabetes, heart disease, and pulmonary edema. My mother, Pamela, has spent years preparing for this possibility but none of us were ready for him to be taken from us so soon.

Most people who know our family know that we have struggled financially for years. With the prospect of losing my father’s social security income, I fear my mother will not be able to afford to take care of herself or keep our house. As I am not yet finished with school, I am not in a position to help her the way that I wish that I could. My mom is one of the sweetest and most caring people, and she dedicated her life to caring for my father. I don’t want to ever have to see her struggle like this.
