Support Pam Hofmeister's Fight Against Cancer

My name is Rebecca Disney (I live in Maryland) and I am trying to raise money for medical/life expenses for my mother Pam Hofmeister (who lives in Texas).... This includes medical (all) expenses, utilities, food, the bare basics for her to live. My mother lives on only SSI after many years of SSDI. We have and are exploring ALL options before seeking this type of help....

2024 was supposed to be the year that my mom finally got settled into a new place of her own, ready to enjoy herself and spend time with her grandchildren. She did get her new place and thankfully so…. Moving to her new town solved the mystery illness that had been plaguing her, mom was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. Things moved so quickly from the first scan that showed the tumor on her pancreas to her having a series of procedures and surgeries in a few short months in preparation for the Whipple in June. The Whipple is a life altering surgery that so many never survive. Mom made it through like the amazing trooper she is, but only to find out that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes. Her fight became so much harder, yet her faith and hope never wavered.

I have talked to my mother nearly every single day throughout her treatment and I wish I could explain to you how amazing she is!!! My mother has faced chronic illness for nearly 40 years … she has lived with chronic Lymes Disease since the mid 1980’s. I have seen my mother go through more surgery than an entire FAMILY will ever see in a lifetime. My beautiful mother carries so many scars and a lifetime of pain from an illness that was barely recognized for so long. She has faced cancer with so much strength. IV Chemo started and she got it down to a science, how to work through each sick day, and how to take care of herself in the good moments. I just can’t tell you how proud I am of her! Mom and I found ways to have fun through the phone by taking pictures, doing fashion shows, anything to just spend time together. I could hear in her voice what kind of day it was, some days her voice just didn’t work at all. After 6 months of endless treatment, just as she thought that things were coming to an end they extended her upcoming radiation treatment plan to 28 straight days.

Suddenly 2025 was not looking as bright as originally hoped…. But she still had all the faith in the world!!! Right up until the radiation department called wanting 25% down before they would even discuss appointments. My mom had long been drowning in medical debt, but she had at least gotten payment plans and loans to cover them. She could have never imagined that the huge debt for the chemo treatment was not THE treatment plan… but to face the sudden fact that it’s absolutely impossible to come up with $1000.00 for just a deposit so that she can make appointments. I spoke to my mother for the first time and heard all the hope gone from her. She and I had already been discussing money issues because of all the medical expenses coming in. Mom doesn’t have a vehicle so my brothers are taking off work and driving over 200 miles each way to take her to doctor appointments, it’s literally all they can do to be there for over the last year and upcoming year. I have provided all I can financially and will continue to do so, but it has come to a point where outside help is desperately needed. It is now at a point where no money, no treatment and without treatment the cancer spreads….

This is not the place that I ever thought I would be, but I will go every single avenue before I look at my mother and say I have nothing left. I am personally disabled, and my income is tremendously limited. I have done a few “Friend Benefits” for my mother and accomplished so much to help. I am now stepping out hoping that people with the power of SHARING can spread this GO FUND ME and Amazon List
