Hey everyone! I have created a GoFundMe for my aunt Pam and Uncle Robbie. The week before last Robbie was admitted to Pardee for a UTI and was septic. He spent some time in the ICU then was discharged home. Less than 24 hours later he was back at Pardee being admitted into the ICU again, this time for hypoxia. His oxygen was 68% when he got to the ER. He has spent the entire week in ICU maxed out on vapotherm. Unfortunately, today he had to be intubated. He is in the process of being transferred to UNC Chapel Hill.
I have created this GoFundMe to help cover travel expenses for Pam (lodging, meals, etc) while out of town. We have no idea how long he will be there. He is on multiple antibiotics, steroids, and more. We are asking for prayers for his healing!! Any donation will be greatly appreciated to lighten the financial burden of this situation.
11/26 Update: they could not fly overnight due to the rain. He is being airlifted this morning at 11:30am.
11/26 Again: He made it to Chapel Hill. Getting him settled and meeting with the new care team.
11/27 Update: His nurses have been awesome. Very informative and caring.
11/28 Update: No real change in Robbie’s condition. He had the last IVIG today. They will start him on Rituximab tomorrow. It will take a while to see any results from that.
They won’t do the wake trial due to the amount of oxygens he’s on. His lungs are full of inflammation.
11/29 Update: No change in his condition.
11/30 Update: No change
12/1 Update: He was started on a Heparin drip for blood clots found in his legs. Some bleeding from his mouth — they think he was biting the ventilator. They are weaning his dilaudid. No change in ventilator settings.
12/3 Update: Robbie had a lot of bleeding. He has given medications to help with the bleeding and several units of blood. Several medications to support his blood pressure.
12/4 Update: no change
12/5 Update: They had to increase his medication because he was struggling with the ventilator again. They increased his medication to support his blood pressure. They started him on a medication to paralyze his whole body. Still only able to tolerate prone (face down) position.
12/5 Another update: He had a colonoscopy today to try and find where the bleeding was coming from.
Unfortunately the doctors have told Pam there is nothing else that can be done from their standpoint to help. They have done all the can. They have told any friends and family who want to come tell him goodbye to come this weekend.
12/6 Update: Robbie passed away at 3am this morning while surrounded by family members.
