Hello,
My name is Andrew Whitney, the son of Scott Whitney.
On May 18, 2025 at 2:43pm, Scott passed peacefully in the hospital surrounded by his wife Pam, his friend Laura, and myself.
My father is a very private man so it may be a shock to some that he has been fighting for almost 4 years to recover from two misdiagnosed strokes that he suffered in 2021. He ended up in and out of rehab facilities and hospitals with multiple complications resulting from infections and his lifelong fight with epilepsy. If there is one word in the dictionary to describe my father: it’s stubborn. Through everything he fought so hard. He went from bed bound, to a wheelchair, to walking 120ft with a walker. He lost 3 toes over the course of his fight and always got back up again. He used humor to alleviate every situation. When he lost his toes he would say “At least I’m a little lighter.” When he would go to doctor’s appointments and was asked how he was feeling he would always respond “with my hands.” Whenever he talked about his and my mothers 35 year long marriage he would joke that they were still together because “it’s too expensive to get divorced.”
My father is one of the strongest men I’ve ever known. I only saw him cry while watching movies (which he would not want me telling people). He lived his life by 2 mottos:
”You’re only given what you can handle.”
”One day at a time.”
My mother and I appreciate anyone that even takes the time to read this. If anyone is able to donate even the smallest amount it would go a long way to help us give him the funeral he deserves.
