Hi, I’m Celi, Phillip Palomo’s niece.
I’m asking everyone to support my Uncle and his family as he has recently been diagnosed with cancer (lipoma sarcoma) . My Uncle has been an electrician for 26 years and the bread winner for his family. We are reaching out for help to cover the basic cost of living for him and his family while he undergoes surgery and recovery.
Due to the invasiveness of the cancer he is going to have his sternum and half of his ribs reconstructed and as a result will be unable to continue his profession as an electrician due to the inevitable loss of his mobility and strength. In the state of Nevada, there is no disability and the wait for social security can be several years. The funds will help while he is going through surgery and recovery and waiting for unemployment. The unemployment wait times have been very long due to Covid and the payments will only be a fraction of his normal income which will make it hard to cover the bills that are already adding up.
With the help of his wife, he currently cares for his three children that live at home (Chance, Shane, and Cassie) as well as recently taking on custody of his two grandchildren (8, Lilly 10, Jayden) which is also part of the motivation behind this post. The children are in need of necessities like clothes as well as dental care and because my uncle is no longer working he no longer has health insurance. He has been waiting for Medicare to respond to his application for health care for him and his family and has no estimate as to when that will be in effect.
The doctor has told my uncle Phil he needs to gain weight prior to his surgery which elongates the process. His recovery time will be at least 6+ months. He has exhausted his entire savings while being out of work waiting on this diagnosis And after this month he is unable to cover his most basic expenses such as: mortgage, food and travel to Utah (2 hour round trip) for his ongoing medical appointments. While he can put some of these bills off for a short while, they will all continue to add up and have to be paid eventually.
My Uncle Phil is like my Dad and an asset to his family. I would appreciate any help or donations you may be able to spare during this holiday season. Thank you all so much.
