My Story

My name is Raed, I grew up in Balata Refugee Camp, facing the challenges of overcrowding and limited resources. Despite these hardships we had a strong sense of community fostered resilience and hope.

After my sister died, I prioritised my family’s needs over my own dreams of studying abroad and provided financial and emotional support. Eventually, I completed a bachelor’s degree in international relations while working multiple jobs to support my family.

After graduation, I became a personal trainer, empowering others to achieve their fitness goals.

Last year I had a transformative experience at a leadership program in Italy which further broadened my horizons and reignited my passion for education and leadership. It was the first time in my life not living under occupation, with a constant threat of violence.

Since then, while Israel has been committing an ongoing genocide in Gaza, the West Bank has suffered a serious escalation of settler and military violence against Palestinian communities like mine. I am dreaming of a world beyond the camp, where I can gain knowledge and build something for myself that will help uplift my community.

Funding

Thanks to the generosity of people donating through GoFundMe I have managed to get to Spain where I enrolled in language school. I arrived in January and I have a visa until September.

I want to continue my studies at the University of Granada, where I've been accepted on their masters in Culture of Peace, Conflicts, Education and Rights.

Course fees: 1000€

Savings needed to get a visa: 8400€

Health insurance: 500€

Lawyer services: 300€

Textbooks: 100€

Residence card renewal fees 50€

My main barrier is raising enough funds to pay for the course, without it I will not be able to stay in Spain and will likely have to go back to Palestine.

Please help me raise enough funds to continue my education in Spain and remain in a safe place.

I truly believe that education is not just a personal dream, but a powerful tool to support my community, Now, being in Spain is the first time I have lived outside a war zone. It’s the first time I’ve been able to walk safely down the street. Studying here gives me the chance not only to grow personally, but to build a future where I can help others through social work, volunteering, and advocacy. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to completing my education and staying in a place where I can live, study, and thrive in peace.
