The unique collections at the Paleontological Research Institution (PRI) support paleontological education and research that helps people to interpret the history and systems of the Earth, increasing knowledge, educating society, and encouraging wise stewardship of the Earth. PRI is home to the Museum of the Earth, Earth@Home, and the Digital Atlas of Ancient Life among many other projects. Collectively through these resources, PRI houses over ~7 million specimens and reaches over a million people globally with only ~10-15% of the current collection digitized for online access. PRI's staff includes scientists who conduct original research in paleontology, evolutionary biology, and science education. For two decades, PRI has shared a formal affiliation with Cornell although it has always been a free-standing entity since its founding in 1932.
PRI has been affected by recent economic turmoil and now has a $3.1 million goal to secure the future of its Museum of the Earth in Ithaca, NY. We have raised $1 million toward retiring the mortgage on the Museum, with another $1 million pledged as a matching challenge. Every dollar given between now and the end of the year will be matched 1:1—bringing us closer to our goal.
Every contribution, big or small, makes a real impact. Even just a few dollars can help move this mission forward. If you can’t donate right now, sharing this fundraiser is also incredibly helpful. Thank you!
