Help a Devoted Single Mom Care for Her Brave Daughter Battling Chronic Illness

Hi, my name is Alison Riddle, and I’m reaching out on behalf of a courageous single mother and her three beautiful children: Paishance, Paisan, and Avery.

For the past 3.5 years, life has been a relentless uphill battle, especially for the middle child, Paisan — a sweet, resilient girl who has been fighting an aggressive, chronic illness since she was just 7 years old.

Paisan was diagnosed with indeterminate Inflammatory Bowel Disease, a severe form of IBD that has been resistant to all conventional treatments. What followed has been a heart-wrenching journey filled with hospital stays, surgeries, missed milestones, and unimaginable physical and emotional pain.

From the beginning, Paisan endured monthly hospitalizations — sometimes lasting 2–3 weeks — for blood transfusions, infusions, procedures, and constant care. Despite the efforts of her medical team, her condition worsened. On February 14, 2023, Paisan underwent her first emergency surgery: a total colectomy, appendectomy, ileostomy, and feeding tube placement. She missed nearly an entire year of 2nd grade, holidays, and birthdays because her immune system was too fragile.

Her mother, who had to pause working due to her own major foot surgery, continued to hold her family together while juggling housing uncertainty and the relentless demands of caring for a chronically ill child.

In October 2023, Paisan’s intestines prolapsed, adding another layer of trauma. Her second major surgery — part of a planned 3-step procedure — was postponed to April 2025. In April, she received a J-pouch surgery, and the family was hopeful as she began showing signs of progress.

Tragically, just weeks before her third and final surgery, Paisan developed a severe bowel obstruction due to scar tissue. This quickly turned into a perforated bowel and life-threatening sepsis. She was rushed into emergency surgery, where doctors performed a laparotomy and placed a diverted ileostomy. She spent time on a ventilator in the ICU, fighting for her life once again.

Despite everything, Paisan continues to fight — and so does her mother, who has been by her side every step of the way.
