Hello, my name is Ali Anderson. I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my cousin, Page Sleet, who is currently under care for Guillain-Barre Syndrome at Essentia Health.

On November 24th, Page woke up with no leg function and minimal function of her right arm. After a call to me and Essentia Health, it was decided that she needed to call 911.

After hours of testing, no eating or drinking, Page received her diagnosis of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (Definition: a disorder of the peripheral nerves, often preceded by a viral infection, usually beginning in the lower limbs and resulting in abnormal sensation and muscle weakness or paralysis).

Soon after diagnosis, Page was admitted to St. Mary's Medical Center ICU with the fear of intubation, as at the time, the syndrome was causing paralysis to all lower extremities and a majority of her core.

She was quickly started on an IV therapy to slow and halt the progression of GBS. The fear at that point was that she would lose control of her lung function, requiring full sedation and intubation, but with the help of medicine and Page's positive thoughts, she avoided that.

Page has remained at St. Mary's Medical Center ICU for 8 days.

Her recovery will continue at Miller Dwan Medical Center in Rehabilitation.

This syndrome has its own timeline, so it is unclear how long Page will remain admitted, but the road to recovery could take many weeks or months.

As of today, Tuesday 12/3, Page has function of her head, can shrug her shoulders, and can wiggle half of her fingers and a couple of toes.

Due to her very limited mobility, 'functional quadriplegia,' she is unable to return home, complete personal cares such as hygiene and feeding herself. At this time she also cannot return to her job that she loves at AMSOIL.

While she remains in care during the holidays, she will still have recurring bills, her mortgage and medical bills to cover, so I set up this account to hopefully help lessen her burden so she can stay focused on healing.

We are so thankful for the care that Page has received and hope for a successful road to recovery.

~As painful as the journey is, be strong and keep looking forward.
