Hiking PCT to Support Environmental Voter Project
Donation protected
This summer, I’ll be hiking from Oregon to Canada through my home state of Washington on the Pacific Crest Trail — a 512-mile journey through some of the most stunning and meaningful landscapes in my life.
The trail winds through iconic public lands like the Columbia River Gorge, Mount Rainier National Park, and the North Cascades — forests I grew up exploring. These places aren’t just beautiful — they’re home. And they’re under threat.
That’s why I’m turning this month-long trek into a fundraiser for the Environmental Voter Project.
In 2025, federal budget cuts have hit trail maintenance hard. The Pacific Crest Trail Association — the nonprofit that keeps the trail safe and accessible — is scaling back key projects. At the same time, the Trump administration is pushing policies to dramatically increase logging in national forests, bypassing environmental reviews. That includes forests along the very trail I’ll be hiking — even protected and old-growth areas.
Now, I’ve never been the most politically active person. I didn’t even vote until my third eligible election. But that’s exactly why I’m supporting the Environmental Voter Project. They help turn non-voting environmentalists (like my past self) into consistent voters — because protecting nature starts with showing up.
If you'd like to support this journey, please consider donating. Every dollar goes to the Environmental Voter Project. I’ll be documenting the trail all summer, sharing the wild places I believe are worth protecting — and I’d love for you to be part of it.
