My name is Janneth and I’m helping my dear friend Nabila raise funds for her beloved cat, Ozzy, who urgently needs surgery. Below is Nabila’s heartfelt message, sharing Ozzy’s story and why this surgery is so important for his health.
Hi everyone,
My name is Nabila, and I’m reaching out with a very heavy heart to ask for help for my beloved cat, Ozzy.
I’m a mom to two Sphynx cats, Ozzy and Binx. They are truly my babies, my constant companions, and a huge source of comfort in my life. Ozzy, especially, is not your average cat. He is incredibly smart, emotionally attuned, and deeply sensitive to the energy around him. He feels everything. When I’m stressed, he knows. When something is off in our home, he carries it with him.
During a very tumultuous period in our lives, Ozzy’s health began to decline. The stress manifested physically, and he started developing urinary stones. Since then, this has become an ongoing and painful struggle for him. Over the past year—especially in recent months—these episodes have become more frequent and severe. Each flare-up meant another vet visit, more antibiotics, pain medication, and countless sleepless nights worrying if he was okay.
We tried everything. Antibiotics worked at first, but over time they stopped being effective. Despite treatment, Ozzy continued to suffer. Toward the end of the summer, our vet recommended switching him to a specialized medicated kibble designed to prevent the stones from forming. This was necessary for his health, but it also significantly increased my expenses. On top of that, Ozzy was prescribed Gabapentin and Prozac to help manage his pain, stress, and depression.
One of the hardest parts of this journey has been the emotional toll. Giving Ozzy medication every day—knowing it’s for his well-being but seeing how much he hates it—has been heartbreaking. I’ve carried the weight of trying to do everything right for him while watching him struggle.
On December 22nd, everything escalated. Late at night, I noticed Ozzy was clearly in distress and rushed him to the emergency vet. There, I was told that he was fully blocked—something that is life-threatening if not treated immediately. I had to leave him there overnight, knowing he would need to stay for several days with a catheter so his body could pass the stones safely.
The vet explained that since nothing else has worked—antibiotics, special food, stress-management medications—the next step is surgery. It’s invasive and scary, but it’s commonly performed and could dramatically improve his quality of life by reducing the chances of future blockages. Hearing this broke my heart. On top of the emotional pain of leaving Ozzy at the hospital, I am now facing mounting emergency vet bills and a surgery estimated between $5,000 and $7,000.
I would do absolutely anything for Ozzy and Binx. They are my family. But this burden has become too heavy for me to carry alone.
If you’re able to donate, share, or even just keep us in your thoughts, it would mean more than I can ever express. Every contribution helps give Ozzy a chance at a healthier, pain-free life—and gives me the support I need during one of the hardest moments I’ve faced.
Thank you so much for reading, for caring, and for being here for us.
With love and gratitude,
Nabila
