In loving memory of Jackson Owen Thomas Gilbert, III—known to family and friends as Owen—our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to a beloved son, brother, husband, and father. Owen, age 45, of Ethel, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on November 11th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Baton Rouge and grew up with a strong sense of family and community. Owen proudly served his country in the United States Army and later dedicated his career to working as a Pipe Fitter. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Jessup Gilbert; his sons, Cayden James Malo, Brantley Gilbert, and Sutton Taylor; his daughters, Mackenzie Gilbert and Piper Gilbert; his mother, Linda Woods; and his sister, DeShea Mitchell.
Owen’s sudden passing has left a void in the lives of all who knew him. Just weeks before, he had been laid off from work and was actively searching for a new job when he began to feel unwell. What started as mild symptoms quickly escalated, and he was soon in intensive care. Doctors discovered a severe infection in his heart, likely caused by a recent dental procedure. Despite the best efforts of his medical team, Owen’s condition worsened rapidly, and he was taken from us far too soon. Because he had recently lost his job, there was no life insurance or burial policy in place, leaving his family to face unexpected expenses during an already heartbreaking time.
The funds raised here will go directly toward covering the remaining funeral costs and any debts that now fall on Jennifer’s shoulders. If there is anything left, it will be given to Jennifer and their children to help them as they navigate this difficult transition. We know everyone’s money is tight, and it never feels right to ask for help. But in these circumstances, we wanted to extend this opportunity for anyone who wishes to support Owen’s family. Anything you can give would be deeply appreciated and will make a real difference for Jennifer and the kids as they face the days ahead. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and for keeping Owen’s memory alive in your hearts.
