Update: 10/11/25

Hello All, About 24-hours after the fundraiser went live, Ryan's circumstances changed and he was admitted to the ICU for emergency surgery to drain fluid from around his heart and lungs. Jaime's Mom, Susan, shared that Ryan seemed bright-eyed and responsive post-operatively. The fundraiser will still be to offset medical expenses in support of Ryan's care, he is currently in the hospital and their goal remains to get to Denver for a clinical trial when Ryan is ready to travel. As I'm sure Jaime shared with many of you, Ryan is fighting every day and they are incredibly grateful for your love and support. Original message below:

Dear loved ones of Ryan and Jaime,

My name is Edie, I have the good fortune of being Ryan and Jaime's next door neighbor and friend. I am constantly amazed by the strength, love and resilience that Ryan and Jaime have shown as a couple as they work together towards Ryan healing from his back surgery this past July and continuing to fight ALK, the cancer he was diagnosed with in March 2024. You may know that Ryan has returned home and requires extensive care. Insurance does not support the level of care that Ryan requires on a daily (24-hour) basis. It is not sustainable for Jaime to handle his care on her own. Currently they are paying out of pocket for a nurse to spend the night so that Jaime can sleep while Ryan is cared for over night. As you imagine, this is a significant financial strain on them. Many have asked how they can support Ryan and Jaime on this journey. Your loving thoughts, cards and text messages are deeply valued - please keep them coming. If you feel inclined to donate in support of the overnight nurse that would be tremendously helpful. 100% of the funds donated through this site are given directly to Jaime and Ryan.
