We are a queer, disabled (me; white guy) couple living in San Francisco with our 2 cats. Surviving in this economy is more than difficult for anyone, but we're having a particularly difficult time. Managing to pay bills, take care of our cats, and affording rent is extremely difficult on SSI and manager of a small business income. While we have barely been able to survive month to month, we have encountered a seemingly insurmountable obstacle. We have been notified that we'll need to move within the next month. We simply do not have time to attempt to save the money required to move and pay first/last for another place. We couldn't afford to move right now even if we found a place, and we cannot afford to stay in our apartment anymore.
On a personal note, I (the white guy) have been homeless before when I was a teenager. I know what it is like to be unhoused and struggling to find my next meal. I am beyond terrified of being homeless again. I do not want my cats or my boyfriend to be homeless. The thought of becoming homeless again makes me nauseated and my heart race. I have begged before and I'll beg again. My family needs help raising funds to help relocate under short notice. Please, please, please donate and/or share with everyone you know!!
