Many of you have had the privilege of working with our APP Alejandro Tungate Lopez. For those of you that haven’t, he is a beloved part of our team in plastic surgery and within the department of surgery as a whole. This past month Alejandro learned his mother, Viviana, was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Alejandro is her only child and made the important decision to be by her side while she undergoes treatment in Columbia. Alejandro and Shelby (UNC Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner) are trying to financially provide all they can to give her the care she deserves. This means depleting their paid time off, forgoing income, and spending much of their savings on medical expenses. Alejandro is our family and just as he is caring for his family, we decided to care for ours. Since he is not close by, our opportunity to provide is limited. In addition to your thoughts and prayers, we are asking for donations to supper Alejandro's mother. This is the main way for us to support them through this challenging time.
