Help Us Bring Life Changing Trauma Support to Children at Spring Lane Primary School!

Every child deserves to feel safe, understood, and able to thrive. Together, we can make that possible.

At Spring Lane Primary School in Northampton, we are proud to serve a wonderfully diverse community of over 440 children aged 3 to 11. Our pupils come from a wide range of cultural, social, and economic backgrounds. Many speak English as an additional language, and a significant number have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
We are an inclusive school at heart. Every child who walks through our doors is valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential- academically, socially, and emotionally.
But today, we are facing a challenge that no school can meet alone.

Why We Need Your Help
Across the UK, children and young people are waiting far too long for mental health support. Statutory services are overwhelmed. Schools are carrying unprecedented responsibility for pupils who are struggling with trauma, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and distress.

At Spring Lane, we see the impact of trauma every day. Children who have experienced bereavement, domestic instability, neglect, abuse, community violence, or other significant life events often struggle to regulate emotions, build relationships, concentrate, or engage in learning. Without timely intervention, these difficulties can follow them into adolescence and adulthood.

We refuse to let that happen.
This is why we are launching a three year Trauma Informed Support Programme in partnership with KidsAid, a Northampton based charity specialising in therapeutic support for children affected by trauma.

About KidsAid
KidsAid believes no child should carry the weight of trauma alone. Their mission is to ensure every child has the opportunity to heal, grow, and thrive. They provide accredited, specialist therapeutic interventions that rebuild emotional resilience, strengthen coping strategies, and restore a sense of safety.
Together, we want to create a trauma informed school community where every child feels understood, supported, and able to flourish.

What This Project Will Deliver
Over three years, KidsAid will embed a whole school, trauma informed framework at Spring Lane, providing:
Direct Support for Children
• 2 weekly therapeutic group sessions for up to 16 pupils
• 3 weekly 1:1 therapy sessions for children with moderate trauma
• 3 weekly 1:1 therapy sessions for children with complex trauma
Support for Families
• 3 weekly 1:1 parent therapy sessions to strengthen family resilience and emotional wellbeing
Support for Staff & School Community
• Trauma informed training for pastoral and leadership teams
• Ongoing guidance to embed compassionate, consistent, trauma aware practice across the whole school

This is a holistic, systemic approach supporting children, families, and staff together to create lasting change.

The Difference Your Donation Will Make
This programme will transform lives. KidsAid’s evidence‑based approach shows:

The programme is designed to create meaningful, measurable improvements across our whole school community. For children and young people, the support will lead to improved emotional regulation, greater resilience, increased confidence, stronger relationships, and better engagement in learning. We expect to see around an 80% improvement across key wellbeing indicators for pupils receiving support.

For parents, the project will help to strengthen emotional wellbeing, build effective coping strategies, and increase confidence in supporting their child at home. We anticipate at least a 70% improvement in parent‑reported wellbeing and confidence.

For staff and therapists, the programme will enhance trauma‑informed practice, deepen understanding of children’s emotional needs, and strengthen collaborative approaches across the school. We expect to see approximately a 75% improvement in professional development indicators.

For the wider community, the project will contribute to a safer, more nurturing school environment, increase pastoral capacity, and help reduce pressure on already overstretched external services. Overall, we anticipate around a 70% improvement in school‑wide wellbeing and capacity measures.

This is not a short term fix. It is a long term investment in children’s futures.

Our Goal: £15,000
The total cost of delivering this essential three year programme is £15,000.

Every contribution large or small brings us closer to giving vulnerable children the support they urgently need.
  • £10 could help provide therapeutic materials
  • £25 could fund part of a 1:1 session
  • £50 could support a group therapy session
  • £100 could help fund trauma informed training for staff
  • £500 could sponsor a child’s full therapeutic journey
  • £1,000+ could significantly fund a term of onsite therapeutic provision
  • Whatever you can give will make a real, lasting difference.

Why Your Support Matters
When a child receives trauma informed support early, everything changes.
They learn to regulate emotions. They rebuild trust. They reconnect with learning. They rediscover confidence. They begin to thrive.
Your donation will directly fund therapy, specialist expertise, and family support helping children who have already faced more than many adults ever will.
You can be the reason a child feels safe again.
