Our high school research team is participating in the iGEM competition, a global event that challenges students to solve real-world problems using synthetic biology. This year, we are working on an innovative project to create a natural hair dye by engineering proteins that express a colored protein fused to a keratin binding domain. Our goal is to strengthen hair and combat damage caused by bleaching, while also offering a solution that is safer for both the environment and human health.



The inspiration for this project came from seeing the impact of traditional hair dyes on people and the planet. We wanted to develop a product that not only improves hair health but also reduces harmful chemicals in everyday products. By combining our passion for science with a commitment to sustainability, we hope to make a positive difference in our community and beyond.
