Last Wednesday, our sweet boy Benji had what was supposed to be a minor surgery on his arm to repair a wound. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning of what has turned into an ongoing nightmare.

Within the week, Benji’s health started declining rapidly. He stopped eating, stopped drinking, became extremely fatigued and lethargic, and as of today, he was unable to walk.

He has now been back to the vet three times and is currently hospitalized at Old Growth Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care with life-threatening kidney complications. At this time, the cause is still unknown. Over the next few days, he will undergo testing, ultrasounds, IV fluids, and multiple treatments to help determine whether he can make a full recovery and what the next steps will be.

We are doing everything we can to keep hope alive. We miss our goofy, sweet boy so much and just want him to feel better and come home.

Along with the heartbreak has come the overwhelming stress of veterinary bills. So far, we have spent over $5,000, and with hospitalization, we are now looking at roughly another $7,000.
