Hi, my name is Natia, and my sister Nansia and myself is reaching out on behalf of our sister Tanita, a loving mother and the sole provider for her two girls. Recently, our world was turned upside down when my sister was tragically shot in a senseless act of violence. On Wednesday night, November 12th, our family received a call that changed everything. Our sister had been shot by her boyfriend right in front of her oldest daughter, who had to hold her mother in her arms while fearing her mother wouldn’t survive until the ambulance arrived .

That 3.5-hour ride to get to her felt like an eternity. When we finally arrived at the hospital, she was still in surgery… a surgery that lasted five long hours. When the doctors finally allowed us to see her in ICU, my heart dropped to my feet. Our sister was on a ventilator, hooked up to countless tubes, with machines breathing for her. The bullet had torn through part of her right lung. Doctors had to cut her open from her chest downward to make sure the bullet was not still inside and to check for more damage to her organs. She survived, but she is still fighting. She remains in ICU, and her recovery will be long, and painful.

She has two daughters depending on her. Right now, her 12-year-old daughter is staying with her paternal grandmother, and her 24-year-old daughter hasn’t left the hospital since the night it happened. She sleeps in the hospital every night as her mom’s only allowed overnight visitor. She can’t work. She can’t make money. She is simply trying to keep her mother alive with love, presence, and prayer.

And the truth is… none of them were prepared for this.

There were no savings. No emergency funds. No backup plan.

Because she cannot return to the home where the incident happened, we urgently need help moving their belongings, getting a U-Haul, covering storage, and supporting her and her daughters while she heals. She also still has regular bills such as her car payment, car insurance, and credit card bills that must be handled while she’s unable to work. My family and I have been driving back and forth as much as possible to be there for her, but financially, emotionally, and mentally… we are stretched beyond our limits.

We are humbly asking for help. Every single donation no matter the size will go directly toward:

• Gas & travel expenses to be with her while she is in the hospital

• A U-Haul and storage unit to move their belongings

• Her car payment, car insurance, and credit card bills during recovery

• Support for her oldest daughter who has been at the hospital day and night
