Piper Carter Mom Maggie Jene Resor Peaceful Burial
Piper Carter is a Detroit-based Arts and Culture Organizer and Hip Hop Activist with focus on Entertainment Justice, Environmental and Climate Justice, Education Justice, the Maker Space movement, and Food Justice. She is former co-owner of 5e gallery and co-founder of We Found Hip Hop. She is Creator of Dilla Youth Day and Host of the Piper Carter Podcast.
Piper has poured her love, creativity, knowledge and expertise into our community, now it’s our opportunity to reciprocate. Her mother, Maggie Jene Resor, transitioned on May Day, May 1, 2021 after a long illness. Piper had been her mother’s caregiver for the past several years. Piper’s devastating loss is compounded by the fact that her mother’s life insurance policy lapsed late last year while both Piper and her mother were focused on restoring her health.
A note from Piper about her mother.
"My Mom was A Visionary, Creative Force. A Dunham trained Dancer who was in the legendary Clifford Fears’ company, Thespian, Actress, Model, Avid Reader, Lover & Supporter of Arts & Culture, especially Black Culture & its rich History, a life long Detroiter, she was an advocate and patron of many Detroit Artists and entrepreneurs. She was a trailblazer, a dreamer, so brave & bold. She lived life out loud and in full color with her bright sense of humor, style, and loving giving heart. She’s so much more and I will miss her dearly."
Friends of Piper have started this crowdfunding campaign to pay for the funeral expenses, burial the repast and other expenses related to closing out her mother’s affairs. We are asking all who have been touched by Piper’s love, kindness and community organizing to donate generously so that these expenses are covered.
Thank you.
