Support Our School Library in West Philly
Donation protected
We are sophomores at The Workshop School. The Workshop School is a public school in West Philadelphia that does projects, hands-on learning, and has an automotive CTE program. We’re raising money for a school library for the students at this school.
You should donate to our GoFundMe page because in 2023, the state government ruled that Philadelphia and other school districts were underfunded, which caused the schools in those districts to have fewer resources and unequal opportunities and education compared to other districts. According to the court, the state of Pennsylvania owes the Philadelphia school district 1-1.2 billion dollars a year. Now, there are only four librarians for our whole district. We also learned that the Workshop School gets 240 fewer minutes in English class than other schools. The state of Pennsylvania also uses 4th-grade reading levels to predict how many prisons they will need to build.
We already have a space that we plan on using for the library, so most donations will be going to the books we purchase. We also plan on building a free little library in front of our school where we stock books for the neighborhood to take. If you have questions about our project or would like to donate books to our library, you can email our whole class at [email redacted]. Thank you for considering your donation towards not only our school library but a free library for our community.
