Help Us Rebuild the Barn for Our Horses
Broken to Beautiful Equine Sanctuary
Many of you know Robin through Red Angel Equine Wellness and the incredible work she does helping horses heal. What many don’t know is that Robin also runs an equine rescue and sanctuary, providing a permanent refuge for horses who have suffered abuse, neglect, or abandonment.
This past January, our world changed in a matter of moments.
After years of saving, planning, and hoping, we finally built a dream we believed would keep our horses safe for many years to come—a 72’ x 72’ barn with 10 stalls, only two years old, built to shelter the rescued horses who call Broken to Beautiful Equine Sanctuary their home.
During the severe January ice storm, the unimaginable happened.
The weight of the ice caused our barn to collapse. In the chaos and devastation, we lost one of our beloved horses, Sassy, who sustained critical injuries and had to be humanely laid to rest. She was deeply loved, and her loss has left a permanent ache in our hearts.
Another horse, Comanche, was injured as well. Thankfully, with immediate care and unwavering determination, we were able to nurse him back to health. He is standing strong today—but the trauma of that night still lingers for all of us.
Today, only the side walls of the barn remain standing. Everything else—what once protected our horses from the elements—is gone.
We did what we believed was the responsible thing. We insured the barn, trusting that we were protected. Sadly, our insurance claim was denied, as ice damage was excluded from our policy. This left us facing an overwhelming reality: rebuilding on our own is not possible.
Our horses miss their home.
These animals—many of whom arrived here scared, broken, and carrying the weight of past trauma—depend on us for safety, comfort, and stability. A proper barn is not a luxury for them; it is essential to their wellbeing.
