Resident physicians from all of MAHEC Asheville’s programs have been greatly affected by Hurricane Helene.

Our residents have come to Asheville from across the country to care for our city and region, and have continued to do so despite the challenges we face after the hurricane.

We are asking for your support to help fund financially support MAHEC Asheville resident physicians with any needs they might have (temporary housing, replacement of lost assets, wellness needs, etc).

Why? Seventy percent of our city is unlikely to get water in the next several weeks and potentially months. Many are still without power, and both internet and cell service are scarce. This means that while working grueling shifts in the hospital (where there is also no running water), shelter, or clinic, they are having to spend their own money to access these resources if they do not have family or friends in nearby cities. Some have even lost their housing, vehicles, and other items of value to the floodwaters.
