Help Save Our TN Tornado Home
Donation protected
Right after midnight on April 3rd 2025 our home was hit by an F3 tornado. I'm Jackie Edwards from Selmer,TN. Brian Cone is my paralyzed roommate (2020 ATV accident) from Finger,TN. I am his sole, unpaid caregiver. We were both raised right here in McNairy county. After the storm, it rained into 5 out of 7 rooms for three weeks causing water damage and mold. We have no home insurance. Brian gets basic disability and the only other income we have is food stamps. We have been denied by the Red Cross, multiple local churches and organizations. We are hoping for some help from FEMA once they arrive. We can't even apply for any of their assistance until then. No date is even scheduled yet.
After 2 weeks of being homeless, we learned our home is indeed saveable (thank goodness for 1930's craftsmanship). We suffered roof, window, ceiling, wall, siding, gutter and floor damage due to the water. Windows were broken, the chimney was destroyed, water hydrant was pulled up and the toilet tank burst.
We have finally replaced the roof and toilet. We still have to repair 5 broken windows, 4 water damaged floors, moldy wall & ceiling insulation, siding and sheetrock. Any donations of labor, materials or money will go straight to making the above listed repairs.
Looking up and seeing mold on your ceilings is terrifying. I'm not sure how to proceed with stopping it or removing it. We have no choice but to stay here even with the mold. No one I've asked wants to mess with it and I'm at the end of my rope.
Both Brian and I will never forget the sound of the walls shaking as we held onto his metal bed frame and prayed. We are blessed to have come out of it alive and with some of our belongings. Please donate if you can, share story and continue to pray for us!!!
