Support Our Parents' Home Restoration after Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
Hurricane Helene hit with a vengeance, and my parents, who are in their 80s, were victims of its devastation.
They live in an old building which belonged to my granddad, in the town of Pinetta, Florida, where my mom grew up and we have shared many happy memories. The storm tore off most of the roof of the second story, and a window was blown out during the storm. The water damage is severe, and part of the roof is lying on the power lines, and pieces of the roof are all over the side and back yards. Due to the age of the building, they could not get insurance coverage on the building itself, just on the contents. My sister and I are trying to raise a minimum of $25,000 to cover the following costs: putting a temporary cover on the roof until it can be fixed, materials and labor to repair the roof, water and mold remediation, and heavy debris removal. Multiple trees also need to be cut and removed.
My parents, Wayne and Gail Barkett, have been married over 60 years and have served God in ministry most of their lives. They have given to many people in need throughout the years, and we are hoping that during their time of need that people will give and show their support. We are grateful for anything you can give to help them get these repairs done as soon as possible. This Go Fund Me was created by their daughters Debra Barkett from the Clayton, North Carolina area, and Julie Caricato, from Atlanta, Georgia.
