Acrobatic paragliding 3x world champion and legend Pál Takáts has left an indelible mark on paragliding history as the inventor of numerous acro maneuvers and paragliding feats. To the paragliding community, Pál has been an inspiring ambassador for the sport and shares his knowledge with fellow pilots and students around the world. Pál now continues to train and push himself in a quite different discipline of paragliding in cross-country (XC) competitions, culminating with Red Bull X-Alps 2023. Behind every champion are also the support team of strategist, physical trainer, therapist and coach who donate their time and energy to caravan along, track, and support the athlete's progress and safety.
Red Bull X-Alps is the world’s toughest paragliding XC adventure race. It’s a fiercely contested battle across the Alps lasting almost two weeks across five countries and a total length of 1223 km. Only world-class athletes with proven records are selected to participate in this run-hike-and-paraglide-only race, passing 15 set Turnpoints across iconic mountains and sites across Europe. With athletes often hiking up to 4,000m (13,000 ft) of vertical ascent and running as much as up to 150km (93 miles) a day on foot to reach mountain peaks to paragliding launches, X-Alps has become recognized as the supreme ultra-endurance competition for the world’s best hike-and-fly athletes.
The cost of this quest is not just physical and mental but financial, which requires athletes to pause their full-time jobs to pursue this dream. Az akro siklóernyőzés 3-szoros világkupa bajnoka és legendás alakja, Takáts Pál, örök nyomot hagyott a siklóernyőzés történelmében, mint számos akro-manőver és siklóernyős mutatvány feltalálója.
Pali már egy ideje más területen, távrepülési (XC) versenyeken is eredményesen versenyez és keresi a kihívásokat.
Az Red Bull X-Alps a világ legerősebb siklóernyős XC versenye. Ez a legkeményebb verseny az Alpokon át, majdnem két hétig öt országon keresztül, összesen 1223 km-t megtéve gyalog és a levegőben.
Csak meghívásos alapon, kiemelkedő teljesítménnyel rendelkező, világklasszis atléták kerülnek kiválasztásra erre a versenyre, amely 15 fordulóponton keresztül halad az ikonikus hegyek és helyszínek mentén Európában. Az atléták gyakran akár 4000 méter magasságig is másznak, és akár 150 km-t is futnak naponta, hogy elérjék azokat a csúcsokat ahonnan aztán a levegőben folytathatják útjukat.
Ehhez a kihíváshoz minden bajnok mögött ott áll egy hónapokon át tartó felkészülés, egy stratégiai csapat, személyi edző és tréner, fizióterapeuta, akik időt és energiát szánnak arra, hogy a verseny alatt is kövessék és támogassák az atlétát, felügyeljék biztonságát.
Ez a küldetés nem csak fizikai és mentális, hanem anyagi erőfeszítést is jelent és a résztvevők a felkészülés és a verseny ideje alatt lemondanak rendszeres bevételt jelentő munkájukról, hogy kövessék álmaikat.
