We are fundraising for our dad, Joseph S. Santos, who is in urgent need of open-heart surgery and a triple bypass. Recently, he underwent a leg amputation and has been adjusting to this major life change. Now, he faces another challenge with his heart, and this surgery is critical for his health and future.

For the past year, he was covered by Medicaid, but on August 1st, he was informed that he no longer qualified and should not have been approved in the first place. While he does receive Social Security, he will not be eligible for Medicare until September of next year, after two full years of receiving benefits. This leaves him without the medical coverage he needs during this crucial time. We have reached out to different organizations, hoping for any kind of help or support, but sadly we have not had any luck. It has been discouraging, but we are not giving up on finding a way to get him the care he needs.

He has always been one of the hardest-working men we know. He dedicated his life to his family, putting us first in every way he could. Watching his health decline has been painful, but we continue to hold onto hope. More than anything, we want him to have more time with us—his children and grandchildren—and the chance to enjoy life again surrounded by the family who loves him.
