We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides a safe haven for elderly, unrideable, injured and behavioral horses, our sanctuary offers a compassionate refuge where these animals can live out their days with dignity and care. Proud partner of a home for every horse and united horse Coalition.
This year has been difficult for us with funding for the sanctuary and we are need of some extra help. My husband and I's income are the main funding for the sanctuary, recently I have been dealing with some health issues with my auto immune disease's lupus and Hashimoto's that forced me to take a step back from working 7 days per week and we just not have been able to keep up with all of the expenses that come with the sanctuary.
Currently we owe $2,800 in veterinary bills, we have to get a load of hay in May for the sanctuary which will cost $7,800 and we have to have our pastures sprayed for a second time for locoweed, a highly toxic and fatal weed to horses which will be $2,200. On top of these expenses we have horses that are on regular medications that amount to $600 per month. Our seniors horses go through $400 in pelleted feed PER month PER horse and we have 6 sanctuary horses on this diet. We recently had a horse diagnosed with DSLD which will need x-rays and shod, and our regular farrier visit every 8 weeks that amounts to $1,350 between trims and corrective shoes.
While we are finding ways that we will be able to keep up with these monthly expenses and I have returned to working as much as I am able, this year we are desperately needing extra help to get us caught up and continue giving these horses the best life and retirement possible.
A picture is worth a thousand words and you can see from photos that we provide great care and rehabilitation of these horses. We are also happy to supply references. Any and all help is greatly appreciated and we would love to invite you out to also meet the horses and see exactly what we do for these horses and for our community.
