Hi!
We’re Small Town Productions, a collective of actors, writers and producers based in our favorite small town, New York City. We came together as graduates of the William Esper Studio to produce and perform work that entertains, educates, and reflects our lived experiences, the communities we come from and the spaces we occupy. Acting brought us together, producing meaningful art keeps us together.
We put up our first production— Seven Feet Under— in December 2023, featuring seven original short plays set in a cemetery. The production, our first one, gave us the most unique insight into what we, as a group, were capable of creating:
7 original short plays
4 sold out shows
209 attendees.
It felt incredible, it was incredible; It opened our eyes to how much talent there is in our city, and the sheer number of stories waiting to be told.
For our next production, we’ve decided to tackle a more contemporary theme. Given the socio-political realities that we’re living, and the current events that are shaping our world into what it is today, the question that we’re trying to answer is:
Are we capable of existing without conquering each other?
We’ve put together a writers room of six incredible writers, spanning screenwriting, Tumblr-writing, playwriting, secret and not-so-secret writing. The writers will come together to create a collaborative piece of theatre that Small Town Productions will produce and put up in a theater in October 2024.
We could not do this without your support, and would love for you to be part of our journey.
