Hi, my name is Jordan, and I’m 16 years old. I’m creating this fundraiser for my mum, Jasmine, after our family received the devastating news that she has been diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer.

My mum is only 41 years old and is the most hardworking, courageous, kind and generous person I know. She is a full-time Year 1 primary school teacher who has dedicated her life to caring for and inspiring young children. No matter how difficult life has been, she has always put others before herself and done everything she could to give my younger brother and me the best life possible.

My brother is 12 years old (turning 13 in September), and our mum is our only parent. We grew up with an absent father, meaning Mum has carried the responsibility of raising us on her own. Through every challenge, every milestone, and every difficult moment, she has been there for us every single step of the way. Everything we have today is because of her love, strength and countless sacrifices.

Today, our world changed.

Our family received the heartbreaking news that Mum has been diagnosed with stage 1 triple-negative breast cancer. While we remain hopeful and are determined to face this together, the road ahead will be incredibly challenging.

Because of her diagnosis, Mum has already had to take unpaid leave from work for the remainder of this school term while she prepares to begin chemotherapy and focuses on her treatment. Along with the emotional impact of this diagnosis, we’re now facing the financial pressure that comes with losing income while everyday expenses continue.

I’m creating this fundraiser to help ease that burden. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will go towards helping keep a roof over our heads, paying essential household bills, groceries, travel to medical appointments, and allowing Mum to focus on what matters most, her health and being there for my brother and me.
