Support our mum fight cancer

Donation protected
Dear family and friends,

We are writing to humbly ask for your help and support in raising funds for our beloved mother, Ms. Margaret Agnes Tongahaapai Fruean. Our mum, Margaret, is currently undergoing treatment for non-hodgkin's lymphoma in New Zealand. We are seeking your assistance to help fund her treatment including the cost of ongoing medical appointments, chemotherapy sessions, and other related expenses.

Our mother's story is one of determination and resilience. Born and raised in Samoa, she is the eldest of five siblings. At a young age, she took on the responsibility of being a parent figure to her younger siblings when her father passed away. Despite the challenges, she excelled in school and earned a scholarship to pursue an undergraduate degree in Business Management from the University of the South Pacific. This paved the way for her extensive career in public service, spanning over 20 years, where she served in various Government Ministries including the Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labour, where she served as an Assistant Chief Executive Officer.

Margaret is not only a public servant but also a devoted mother and grandmother. She has instilled in us the values of kindness, love, respect, humility, and faith in the Lord. She will be celebrating her 60th birthday at the end of April, and we cannot imagine a more meaningful gift than the chance to help her fight this disease and come out victorious.

In March 2022, Margaret was diagnosed with non-hodgkin's lymphoma. The Samoa Government's Overseas Medical Treatment Scheme funded her chemotherapy treatments from March - August 2022, for which we are forever grateful. By the end of her chemo sessions, we received the good news that her CT scan revealed that her lymphoma was in remission.

However, earlier this year, Margaret traveled to New Zealand for follow-up scans, and unfortunately, we received the distressing news that her lymphoma had relapsed. She now has to undergo further treatment as recommended by her doctor, and it is unfortunately going to be self-funded as the kind support from the Samoa Government is not provided this time around.

As her loving children, we have pooled our resources together to support her as best we can. But we know that we cannot do it alone. We are reaching out to you, our community, to help us raise funds to support our mum's journey to recovery. Any funds would be highly appreciated and would go toward her medical appointments, chemotherapy sessions, and other related costs.

We thank you for taking the time to read our story and hope that you will consider supporting our mother in her fight against cancer, twice. Together, we can help our mum come back stronger and healthier than ever before.

Thank you and God bless.

Sincerely,
Margaret's children.
