This is incredibly hard to write, but we need to be honest about what’s been going on and why we’re asking for help.

We recently made a move that we deeply regret. What we believed would be a safe and supportive place to land has turned into an unstable and emotionally unsafe environment, and right now we are financially stuck with no clear way out on our own.

Since the move, my mental health has taken a severe hit. I’m struggling to take care of even basic needs and often isolate in our room just to feel safe. The stress, anxiety, and constant fear of conflict have made daily life overwhelming.

We did not know before moving that my spouse’s family members we are staying with are actively struggling with alcoholism. We were under the impression they were sober. Because of this, we are forced to walk on eggshells every day. Speaking up about the drinking risks us being asked to leave immediately, which would leave us without housing.

There has already been serious conflict surrounding the alcohol use, and it has created a hostile and emotionally draining environment. I’ve been questioned, accused of bad intentions, and treated with suspicion, despite only wanting safety and stability for both of us. This has added even more stress to an already fragile situation.

We want nothing more than to return home to a place where we feel safe, supported, and able to begin healing. Unfortunately, the cost of moving, securing housing, and covering basic expenses makes that impossible without help right now.

Transportation costs to return home

Temporary housing or deposit assistance

Basic living expenses during the transition

Giving us the chance to rebuild stability and focus on our mental health

Asking for help is not easy, but staying here is not sustainable. Any support — whether donating, sharing, or sending encouragement — truly means more than we can express.
