My 4 kids are not getting the education they need here in Hawaii. They were all born here and they have never known anywhere else, but they yearn for appropriate schooling, even if it means leaving everyone and everything they know.

The Hawaii school system is seriously lacking in Autism resources, and there is no Gifted/Talented education here. My kids have all tested Gifted and received diagnoses of Autism and ADHD. They are struggling in the school system here, with education that doesn't meet their needs, and they are bored in class, and, at times, having autistic episodes that the teachers and faculty are doing their best to manage but are falling short.

We have found that Los Angeles has a public school system that includes Gifted Education and even gifted magnet and charter schools, as well as autism resources.

My autistic son was accepted into a magnet school in LA. We really are trying to make the move to LA now from Hawaii, as this is the school year that my son starts high school and one of my other kids starts middle school, and we'd love to minimize the number of school changes for them. Also, we don't want to lose my son's acceptance.

We have been raising money for the move, but we are only about halfway to our goal. My kids are ready and wanting this move, and so are we. We love our state of Hawaii, but my kids need and want a learning environment that will challenge them and help them thrive.
