Support Our Mom's Fight Against Heart Failure
Donation protected
Hello y'all, friends, family, strangers. I started this GoFundMe to help my mother. My mom raised my brother and me as a single mom. I don’t know how she managed to do that, especially with rowdy twins. She has always been the strong, independent type of person, always wanting to do it alone, never wanting to ask for help, and trying her absolute best so that my brother and I could have the best life possible. She always made sure we had a roof over our heads and food in our bellies. We had a lot of ups and downs in the journey we call life, but that’s exactly what made our bonds stronger than ever. To this day, she still makes sure my brother and I are okay, and we’re 27!
My mother suffered a heart attack in March of this year. The news was surreal, as if it was not real. My mother at the time was going through another medical condition. Everything seemed to be getting better. We were so happy for her, and the heart attack set us back. Like, where do we go from here?
She was admitted to North Texas Medical Center and swiftly taken to Texas Health Presbyterian to be operated on. At Texas Health, she underwent multiple surgeries. During the surgeries, she ended up getting severe nerve pain to the point where she can only scream and cry when it acts up, and she has pretty much lost the ability to walk. Throughout the whole process, we never gave up. We had hope, and things looked better for a second.
We would soon be told that the function of her heart has decreased tremendously. She would be diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. My family was speechless. We were told by the doctors that there is nothing left that can be done. If they were to perform any more surgeries, she’d likely die on the table. We were also told that she does not have much time left in this world. Her prognosis was bad. We still can hear those words being told to us.
The best solution was just to allow her to go back home and spend time with her family and her cats with the time she still has left. My brother and I love our mom so much. We just want her to be as comfortable as she can be, and part of that is just to be by her side. She wants us there, and we want to be there as much as we can.
My mother is a fighter, as much as she can be. Even after hearing the grim news, she wants to still go to all of her appointments and be able to extend the time she has left. We’re so proud of her.
Like I said earlier, she always was the independent type, but now’s the time to reach out and ask for help! We hope everyone who reads this can donate. Anything helps! We want to provide her all that she wants and hopefully be able to move her to a downstairs apartment so it’s easier to take her to her doctor appointments. We want to be able to let her enjoy what she has and not worry about anything financially.
