Hi everyone,
Our world turned upside down recently when our beloved mom underwent emergency brain surgery to remove what we hoped would be a benign tumor. After a grueling procedure and a long, painful recovery, we received the devastating news she has been diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive and incurable forms of brain cancer.
This diagnosis has shattered our family. In the blink of an eye, she’s gone from being the heart of our home, the one who took care of everyone, to needing constant care herself. She is now facing the biggest fight of her life: weeks of radiation and chemotherapy, long drives to specialists, and the emotional and physical toll that comes with it all.
If you know Jennifer, you know that she’s the first person to step up when someone else is in need. She’s always done the most for her community like volunteering, organizing, supporting others quietly and without ever asking for anything in return. She's well-known around our hometown for her giving heart and strong spirit. Over the years, she’s given back in countless ways through 4-H, serving as a P.E.O. supporting Cottey College, and making quilts for Quilts of Valor, just to name a few. Jennifer has worked in law enforcement as a probation and parole officer for almost 30 years. Now, she’s the one who needs help, and it’s one of the hardest things for her and for us to ask for it.
She can no longer work, and our dad has had to step away from his job for the foreseeable future to be by her side every step of the way. Her appointments are hours away, and the travel alone is exhausting and expensive. On top of everything, my younger sister who has special needs has been deeply impacted by all of this. It's been heartbreaking trying to help her cope while we all try to hold ourselves together.
I’ve been traveling back and forth from Tennessee to Missouri as often as possible to be there for them, juggling responsibilities and doing everything I can to help support my parents and my sister through this unimaginable time. It’s heartbreaking not being able to be there every moment, but I’m doing everything in my power to help hold our family together.
This is not a road any of us ever imagined walking. We’re trying to focus on one day at a time, but the financial burden is growing quickly. Medical bills, travel expenses, food, housing, and lost income are overwhelming us and we’re asking, from the bottom of our hearts, for any help you might be able to offer.
Every donation, share, or kind word helps us feel a little less alone in this fight. If you’ve ever been touched by cancer, or just want to support a family doing their best to hold on to hope, we would be beyond grateful for your support.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Please keep our mom in your thoughts and prayers.
