In 2009, our mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She went through a double mastectomy, aggressive radiation, and chemotherapy. At that time, she was a full-time mom with three young kids under the age of 12, as well as a full-time employee working with individuals with disabilities. Despite all the hardships she endured, she always put on a brave face and continued to fight to remain strong for her family. After a year of exhausting treatments, she was officially cancer-free on December 4th, 2009. Since then, she’s been thriving and living her best life doing four 39-mile breast cancer walks in Santa Barbara, fundraising in Lake Arrowhead all summer for breast cancer awareness, coaching her kids' soccer teams, becoming a grandma of 3 littles, and overall being the best mom, sister, nana, daughter, best friend, and citizen of our community.
15 years later, in July of 2024, our mom has now been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that has spread throughout her entire body and has stopped her ability to work, drive, walk, and overall quality of life. She has undergone brain surgery to remove a tumor that has hemorrhaged and started to leak throughout her brain. After the healing process is done, doctors will determine whether radiation is needed to treat any remains of the tumor in her brain. Chemo will hopefully start to treat the rest of the cancer in her body once she is healed from brain surgery. She will need to continue chemo on an ongoing basis to keep the cancer from spreading and just keep it maintained overall.
She is loved by many people and has a great support system by her side throughout all of these hardships she is going to endure for the rest of her life with us.
We’re doing this to help our mom with medical expenses in order for her to receive continued treatments and alleviate any financial stress.
